Standards for Tool Testing, Formula Verification & Content Integrity
At TinyTools, our mission is to provide fast, privacy-focused online utilities that users can trust unconditionally for work, study, and software engineering. Because our tools perform mathematical computations, data transformations, and sample generation, we hold our content and algorithmic logic to rigorous accuracy standards.
1. How TinyTools Tools Are Tested
Every interactive tool undergoes manual and automated verification prior to publication. Our testing methodology includes:
- Boundary Condition Verification: We test extreme inputs, such as negative numbers, zero values, leap years (February 29), empty text inputs, and upper browser memory limits.
- Cross-Browser Compatibility: Tools are validated across modern desktop and mobile browsers (Chromium, Firefox, Safari) to ensure consistent execution of Web APIs such as
crypto.getRandomValuesandDOMParser. - Responsive UI Validation: Controls, copy buttons, and export dialogs are tested for accessibility and usability across mobile screens and desktop keyboards.
2. Calculation & Conversion Formula Verification
We do not use black-box calculations or arbitrary heuristics. All mathematical formulas used on TinyTools are derived from standard academic or industry specifications:
- Time & Speed Math: Playback speed formulas (
Adjusted Duration = Original Duration / Speed Multiplier) are cross-checked against standard video player runtimes. - Color Science: CMYK to RGB/HEX conversions use standard subtractive-to-additive color approximation models. We explicitly inform users that digital approximations cannot replicate physical paper ink gamuts without calibrated ICC press profiles.
- Cryptographic & Encoding Standards: Base64, UUID v4, and hashing implementations follow official IETF RFCs (RFC 4648, RFC 4122) and W3C Web Cryptography specifications.
3. Dataset Selection & Curation
Where tools rely on reference databases (such as US states, world cities, or authentic food dishes), we reject synthetic or unverified AI-hallucinated lists. Instead:
- Geographic Data: State boundaries, capitals, and Census regions reflect official US Census Bureau classifications. Population metrics cite specific reference years (e.g. 2023 Census estimates).
- Culinary Catalogs: Food lists are manually curated for authentic cultural naming, accurate meal categories, and verified dietary flags (vegetarian vs vegan).
- No Fictional Person Data: Synthetic dates of birth generated by the Random Birthday Generator are mathematically constructed dates and are never tied to real individuals or records.
4. Content Integrity & No Fake Signals
TinyTools strictly rejects deceptive SEO tactics:
- We do not invent fictitious expert reviewers, certificates, or fake user ratings.
- We do not use generic AI-generated filler text to artificially inflate word counts. Explanatory text exists solely to clarify how the tool operates, document limitations, and guide proper usage.
- We do not fabricate marketing claims such as "trusted by Fortune 500 companies" without verifiable independent proof.
5. Update Cadence & No Fake Freshness
We do not update "Last Modified" or "Last Reviewed" timestamps automatically on site deployments. Visible review dates on tools and documentation are only updated when substantive changes occur—such as new functionality, revised algorithms, or updated datasets.
6. Reporting Errors & User Feedback
If you encounter a calculation discrepancy, dataset error, or browser rendering bug, we encourage prompt reporting. Every feedback submission is reviewed directly by our engineering team:
